  • Second half started
  • Scenes between Nitya Menon and Samantha are good, fun
  • Jaaruko song with funny lyrics and picturisation
  • Many silly and boring scenes killing the mood
  • Trivikram mark dialogues are lacking, DSP’s BGM is only saving grace, poor scenes
  • and much awaited Super Machi song, filled up with all stars, no dance just okay
  • Heavy sentiment and serious scenes, too much dragging
  • Climax fight is okay
Done with the movie, fell short of expectations but  average stuff, few comedy scenes and sentiment scenes are good. Review in few minutes.
Rating: 2.75/5
Basic Plot:
Viraj Anand (Allu Arjun) is son of Satyamurthy(Prakash Raj) a rich business man, Satyamurthy suddenly dies and Viraj comes o know that Sathyamurthy loyalty has costed their family 300 Crores and suddenly all close people start to move away from Sathyamurthy family including Viraj’s fiancee , Hero accepts the difficulties before him and starts a new life, he falls in love with Samantha and comes to know that he will get some property if he can bring back the properties of Rajendra Prasad which are with Upendra, story shifts to Tamil Nadu where hero gets locked by Upendra, there he comes to know the twist about reason for his fathers death, how he manages to save his family and his love is the rest of the plot.
Performances:
Allu Arjun has shown some matured performance, his comedy timing was good, but his performance in emotional scenes is main highlight, he carried the film on his shoulders, he should have taken care of dances which people expect most from him.
Upendra looked fresher on the screen, but was wasted, his character was thought to be important, but there was not so much weight for his role, he did a good job though. Samantha was asusual, Nitya’s performance was good, her scenes with Samantha and Bunny worked out, Sampath was routine, Brahmanandham, Ali, Vennela Kishore, Rajendra Prasad etc were wasted.
Technicians:
Music score by Devi Sri Prasad was okay, on screen “Seethakalam”, “Subhalakshmi” and “Chal Chale” songs were good, BGM was good.
Camera work was top notch especially in the first half.
Editing could have been better, Dialogues were not upto the mark.
Production Values were great, film looked rich and colorful.
Director and His Film:
Trivikram had a strong point to present and has got all needed resources, but he failed to utilize them, clearly he was not in Attarintiki Daredi’s hangover, but looks like half cooked film from him, emotion was not clearly presented, cast was not properly used, it looks like he was in a hurry to wind up the film without dealing with  it completely, Trivikram’s films are generally known for comedy but this films clearly lacks that.
Upendra was wasted big time, most of the cast was not utilized properly, he failed in engaging audiences with his storytelling, few scenes in the first half and emotional scenes in the second half were good, but over all Trivikram’s mark was clearly missing. If anyone has to be blamed for this wasted opportunity it will be Trivikram himself, he should realize that heavy emotions are always good, but should be presented in an entertaining manner or else they might bore the audiences.
Plus Points:
  • Allu Arjun’s action
  • Cinematography
  • Production values
  • DSP’s BGM
  • Few emotional scenes in the climax
Minus Points:
  • Direction
  • Flat second half
  • Editing
  • Dragged and slow narration
  • Improper use of star cast
  • Lack of wow factor
Overall:
Son Of Satyamurthy, might fall short of expectations especially with the hype surrounding it. It lacks the repeat value as well as feel good factor, first half is passable while second half falls flat, climax is savior though, Trivikram’s half baked direction and improper utilization of star cast make it just one time watch movie.
Might do okay business in A centers, but might not work in mass centers.
You can try it once, it might not completely entertain you but at the same time will not completely disappoint you.
